KAKORANI, Jan 27: Three over-ground workers of the ULFA (I) were arrested from Kakorani in Assam by security forces and Assam Police in a joint operation on the evening of 26 January.
Based on an input from Assam Police about likely presence of an ULFA cadre in Kakorani, the Jairampur battalion of the Assam Rifles along with Assam Police personnel launched an operation and apprehended the three over-ground workers, who have been identified as Ranjit Chutia, Bongday Sabuk Dora and Debemshor Gogoi.
The police confirmed that the individuals had been acting as over-ground workers of the banned outfit and are allegedly linked to recent activities of the group in the area. The operation was conducted as a follow-up to two low-intensity blast witnessed during the day.
