Meeting on GIS-based master plan held

NAMSAI, Feb 5: The Town Planning & Urban Local Bodies department conducted a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall here on Monday on the GIS-based master plan for Namsai planning area.
Addressing the participants, who included members of the Namsai Planning Authority (LPA), HoDs, and a consultant from the All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG), DC RK Sharma spoke on the importance of town planning and having a master plan for towns. He urged the participants to offer meaningful inputs to the GIS-based master plan.
Assistant Town Planner Siyang Rebe presented a brief on the provisions of the Arunachal Pradesh Urban & Country Planning Act, 2007. He informed that, although the LPA has been constituted, the planning areas are yet to be declared and notified.
The AIILSG consultant made a presentation on the process of preparing a master plan, explaining the need, objectives and methodology of a master plan, and interacted with the HoDs to develop an initial approach for the master plan for Namsai town.
Several other important points were discussed during the meeting.
