Tourism dept conducts orientation on homestays

SHERGOAN, Feb 7: The HRD wing of the state tourism department has conducted an orientation on ‘Homestay hospitality and conservation tourism’ here recently.
The resource persons, Tourism Assistant Director (HRD wing), Bengia Manna Sonam, Raj Basu from Association for Conservation on Tourism and World Pheasant Association of India president Heerak Nandy imparted training to around 120 registered homestay owners under the department of tourism during the programme.
The highest number of participants were from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district.
Many places of tourist interest within Shergoan were documented during the tourism resource mapping.
The participants were also taught on wildlife and the government’s initiatives in promoting homestays and benefits available under the CMPVY were also highlighted during the orientation programme.
