ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The capital complex district administration is set to organise a camp here to provide aids and appliances to persons with physical and mental disabilities.
Addressing a meeting on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan informed that the administration will provide backup for organising the camp.
He directed the DMO to post medical staffers at each camp for examining the beneficiaries, and asked the Papum Pare ICDS deputy director and the BDO to create “maximum publicity” on the event through the CDPOs and anganwadis.
Dhawan also directed the DSO (stat) to arrange a mobile team for generating Aadhaar cards and enrolling beneficiaries at the venues.
He informed that four camps will be organised on 19, 20, 24 and 28 February at the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired in Chimpu, IG Park and the Banquet Hall in Itanagar, and the art & culture ground in Naharlagun.
He also requested all the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity.
ALIMCO representatives of the Northeast areas under the union social justice & empowerment ministry’s department of empowerment of persons with disabilities presented details about mandatory requirement of documents, awareness sensitization, organizing camps for distribution of aids and appliances, etc.
They briefed about the Centre’s ADIP Scheme and informed that under the scheme aids and appliances will be distributed for free to economically constrained beneficiaries through the ALIMCO.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the NER regional head of the ALIMCO, the technical head of ALIMCO, administrative officers, CDPOs, representatives of Divyangjan associations and paralympics associations, and the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired.
