AALO/YINGKIONG, Feb 19: Grocery stores and a kitchen house were devastated in two separate fire incidents that occurred in Aalo in West Siang district and Yingkiong in Upper Siang in the last two days.
While the fire in Aalo completely destroyed the Aalo Cooperative Society’s grocery store and partially damaged the pharmacy store at Yongam market on 18 February at 6 am, the fire in Yingkiong reduced a kitchen with CGI roofing to ashes in Gobuk village on 17 February around 11 pm.
Quick response from the fire brigade prevented the fire in Aalo from spreading further. Though electric short-circuit is suspected to have caused the fire there, the cause of the fire that occurred in Yingkiong is still not known.
The West Siang district administration has taken stock of the damages caused by the fire in Aalo. (DIPRO)
