KHONSA, Feb 27: The last rites of former Khonsa ZPM and Chief of Lapnan village, late Lengang Lowang was performed with traditional Nocte rituals on 27 February at his birth place, Lapnan.
Late Lowang was killed in a road accident on 23 February in between Itanagar – Naharlagun.
The Tirap District Administration and Panchayati Raj Institution of Khonsa observed two-minutes of silence and offices remain closed in the afternoon hours of 27 February to pay respect to the departed soul.
Earlier, chiefs of all Nocte villages and Wakka village Chief from Longding district paid homage to the departed soul of late Lowang.
Earlier, the Khonsa Bazaar remained closed on 24 February in respect.
Late Lengang Lowang was born on 19th July, 1979 at Lapnan village and passed away on 23rd February, 2018. He is survived by his wife.
