3-day riverside adventure camp at Simang River draws tourists

BOLENG, Mar 3: More than 500 visitors, including domestic and international tourists, participated in various activities during the three-day ‘Riverside Adventure Camp’, organized by the Ane Siang Tours & Expeditions in collaboration with the Tourism department of Siang district and Siang Unying Giidi Celebration Committee -2018 (SUGCC) at the Simang river bank from 26 to 28 February last.
The adventure camp, organized on the sidelines of the Siang Unying Giidi (festival) celebration aimed at creating awareness among the local community on importance of tourism and to make them realize the potential of tourism in the area.
The visitors, including locals, participated in angling, trekking, bird watching, village walk and rock climbing and other activities during the three-day camp.
An eco-adventure camp for two days was also held to give awareness about tourism to the people of the district, said District Tourism Officer TK Kopak.
SUGCC-2018 president Dr Karik Mize said that it offered tourists a chance to enjoy the pristine beauty of Siang district.
‘The song and dance performances during campfire in the evening were also the delight of every visitor’, he said, adding that this event shall remain a part of Unying celebration in the future.
SUGCC-2018 general secretary Kangkimang Takuk said the Simang valley has lot of things to offer to visitors, including rich culture, flora and fauna, besides textile and handicraft items.
The adventure camp also commemorated with the National Tourism Day.
