ITANAGAR, Mar 14: The cancer patients from Arunachal Pradesh residing at Arunachal Bhawan in Mumbai heaved a great sigh of relief as the state government on Wednesday paid the outstanding property tax to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).
According to information received here, the outstanding property tax amounting to Rs 53,0331 was paid through a demand draft by the state government.
It is pertinent to mention here that the NMMC had on 24 February served notice to the Director of Industries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh to pay the outstanding property tax within a week, with a cautioning that the second floor of the guest house, where the cancer patients are residing, may either be sold through public auction or file a suit, if the outstanding amount is not cleared within the stipulated time period.
This had created much panic among the patients as it would be difficult for them to find an alternative place within their budget.
