RONO HILLS, Mar 23: Thirty-seven students from various departments of the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), along with BEd deputed teachers and faculty members of the RGU’s education department participated in a workshop on ‘Engaging men in promoting gender equality’ which was held at the university on 23 March.
The workshop was organised by the RGU’s Women Studies & Research Centre (WSRC) in collaboration with the university’s education department.
After WSRC Director Dr Anga Padu introduced the theme of the programme, a focus group discussion was held, during which the participants collected ideas regarding the masculine norms prevailing in society and the reasons that influence men to resist gender equality.
They later suggested strategies to be adopted for ‘gender initiative’ in the context of the state’s tribal society.
