LONGDING, Apr 1: Longding Additional Deputy Commissioner T Ekke inaugurated the swatchhta pakhwada (cleanliness drive) under the Swatchhta Se Siddhi programme at the CHC conference hall here on Sunday, in the presence of the DMO, medical officers (MO), and other stakeholders.
Measures to ensure the success of the programme were discussed on the inaugural day, and the MOs in charge of various blocks in the district were directed to engage health workers, including ASHAs, for effective implementation of the programme at the block and village levels.
It was decided to organize cleanliness drives and open defecation-free (ODF) campaigns at all the health centres and villages during the fortnight-long programme.
It was also decided that panchayat members, NGOs, religious leaders and all the stakeholders should play a proactive role to ensure the success of the swatchhta pakhwada, according to an official release.
