SHG members from Arunachal take part in Aajevika Mela

ITANAGAR, Apr 3: Four members of self-help groups (SHG) from Yachuli and Namsai, promoted by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), participated in the annual Aajevika Mela, which was held in New Delhi from 23 March to 1 April.
Aajevika Mela is an annual event organized by the rural development ministry, where SHG members from all the states participate to exhibit and sell their products from over 500 stalls.
The stalls display the skills, potential and hard work of women SHG members from across India.
This year the stalls featured items ranging from handlooms and handicrafts to decorative items, metallic products, earthen utensils, paintings, organic foods, spices, processed food products, soft toys, utility items, and brass and wrought iron products.
The annual SARAS Aajevika Mela is an endeavour of the DAY-National Rural Livelihoods Mission to provide rural women producers a national platform to showcase their products and seek national and international buyers.
The four SHG members from Arunachal – Joram Pera, Nabam Rinia, Binita Mowke and Junu Gogoi – were accompanied by ArSRLM Programme Manager Nabam Ompi.
The ArSRLM is promoting more than 1000 SHGs, covering more than 9000 households in 15 blocks of Arunachal Pradesh – Sagalee, Seppa, Yachuli, Ziro, Palin, Daporijo, Basar, Aalo West, Yingkiong, Pangin, Mebo, Roing, Namsai, and Chowkham, it informed.
