ITANAGAR, Apr 4: The 15th Finance Commission will launch its national level consultation process from Arunachal Pradesh.
The members of Finance Commission will visit the state from 5 to 8 April and will hold meetings with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers and other officials of the state.
The Commission will also meet leaders of various political parties, presidents of tribal associations, women representatives, chambers of commerce, captains of businesses, progressive farmers and other stakeholders to understand the opportunities and the challenges in the state.
There will also be interactive session with Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions. The members will also meet Governor B. D. Mishra.
The Commission will submit its recommendations by October 31, 2019 and the recommendations made by the 15th Finance Commission will kick in from April 1, 2020 and will be observed for a period of five years.
The commission is headed by former Revenue Secretary and former Rajya Sabha MP, N.K.Singh and includes Shaktikanta Das, former Economic Affairs Secretary and Dr. Anoop Singh, Adjunct Professor, Georgetown University as members. Dr. Ashok Lahiri, Chairman, Bandhan Bank and Dr. Ramesh Chand, Member, Niti Aayog serves as part time members in the Commission.
