BRO workers’ union reiterates demands

ITANAGAR, Apr 12: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) Labourers Union recently submitted a memorandum to the chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), urging him to redress their longstanding demands.
The union had earlier also submitted a memorandum to the governor in this regard.
The main demands of union are, inter alia, implementation of the Rules & Regulations of Building & Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and Rule 2006; enhancement of welfare schemes at par with the Central B&OCWB; implementation of the Labour Law under all the projects in Arunachal Pradesh; grant of maternity leave; and construction of labourers’ barracks in all the district headquarters where BRO projects are underway.
