East, Upper Siang gear up for Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

PASIGHAT, Apr 12: With East Siang gearing up for the implementation of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (village self-governance campaign), DC Tamiyo Tatak on Thursday asked all the stakeholders to properly plan and coordinate to ensure its success in the district.
The campaign is set to be launched on 14 April to mark the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
Addressing a coordination meeting, Tatak informed those present that a series of commemorative events will be organised till 5 May, “so that the campaign’s objective of reaching out to the gram panchayats and ensuring 100% coverage of the seven welfare flagship programmes for the rural beneficiaries in the identified villages of the district are achieved.”
He also reminded them of the videoconference chaired Chief Secretary In-charge Kaling Tayeng on Wednesday, during which Tayeng called for ensuring 100% coverage in the 299 identified villages of the state.
In Upper Siang, 17 villages will be covered under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA), which is scheduled to be launched on 14 April and continue up to 5 May, DC Duly Kamduk informed HoDs of the district during a meeting here on Thursday.
Highlighting the activities to be carried out by the departments concerned, the DC urged the officers to execute the activities “with utmost sincerity and dedication.” (DIPRO)
