DA declares APCC’s bank gherao plan illegal

ITANAGAR, Apr 19: The regional manager of the State Bank of India (SBI) here informed that all automated teller machines (ATMs) in Itanagar and Naharlagun will be replenished with sufficient cash by Friday to mitigate the inconvenience faced by customers.
In a release, the regional manager said the bank is now receiving cash remittance from the Guwahati branch of the Reserve Bank of India, and that the situation will improve from 20 April onwards.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to our esteemed customers by the recent cash crunch,” the release added.
Meanwhile, the capital complex district administration (DA) has declared the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee’s (APCC) proposed demonstration in front of the SBI offices in Itanagar and Naharlagun and ATMs across the capital complex on 20 April illegal.
“There is a designated rally and protest ground near the tennis court at IG Park. The APCC may use the designated ground to hold a demonstration, for which a separate permission has to be sought from the district administration or the authorities concerned,” the order from Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner In-charge Talom Dupak read.
It said the APCC failed to follow the system by not intimating to the administration about the proposed demonstration.
“The leader of the party shall be held responsible in case of damage (during the course of the demonstration),” the order read.
