ITANAGAR, Apr 22: A total of 1017 cases, consisting of criminal, pre-litigation, civil and others, were listed for hearing with various legal services authorities (from the high court to the court of the judicial magistrate) during the second nationwide Lok Adalat.
Out of these, 234 cases, including 69 pre-litigation and 165 pending civil, criminal and other cases were disposed of. The final award of compensation to the litigants as settled in the lok adalats came to Rs 60, 31,710.
The Itanagar bench of the Gauhati High Court Legal Services Committee took up 12 MACT cases and disposed of four, involving an amount of Rs 9,44,138.
Various district legal services authorities also conducted lok adalats in their respective premises.
