ITANAGAR, Apr 29: Asserting their dominance over players from other NE states, the shuttlers from Arunachal Pradesh entered into the finals in nine categories in the Victor 2nd North East Prize Money Badminton Tournament currently underway here.
The players from the state who entered into the finals are Laa Robin (boys’ single U-13), Gnveer Gongo-Samuel Tamang (boys’ double U-11), Nikhil Chetry and Kirto Nyorak (boys’ single U-15), Nish Upadhyay (girls’ single U-17), Pakli Bagra/Laa Robin (boys’ double U-13), Takio Puna/Taring Yapi and Kenbi Riram/Nish Upadhyay (girls’ double U-17), Nikhil Chetry/Kirto Nyorak (boys’ double U-15), Toku Neha/Napi Tayam (girls’ double U-13), Tamang Samuel (boys’ single U-11).
Laa Robin will play against Md Irfan Ahmed of Assam in boys’ single Under-13 while the pair of Gnveer Gongo and Samuel Tamang will meet Pritpal Bhuyan and Ritom Howbora of Assam in boys’ double U-11 final.
Nikhil Chetry will be up against state mate Kirto Nyorak in boys’ single U-15 category. In girls’ single U-17, Nish Upadhyay will meet Tania Bordoloi of Assam.
The duo of Pakli Bagra and Laa Robin will play against the pair of Anirban Gogoi and Kaustav Prakash Sharma of Assam in boys’ double U-13 category.
Takio Puna/Taring Yapi will meet Kenbi Riram/Nish Upadhyay in girls’ double U-17.
The pair of Nikhil Chetry and Kirto Nyorak will play against Isanth P Gohin and Aditya Kalpa Saikia of Assam in boys’ souble U-15.
In girls’ double U-13, the pair of Toku Neha and Napi Tayam will play against the duo of Munifa Haque and Risika Krishnatria of Assam.
Tamang Samuel will be up against Ritom Howbora of Assam in boys’ single U-11 final.
Meanwhile, Bandita Das of Assam will meet state mate Chilika Gogoi in girls’ single U-13 final.
The girls’ double U-15 final will be played between Mayuri Barman/Krishika Kashyap and Rikshita Chaliha/Ridhima Thapa of Assam.
In boys’ single U-17, Madhurjya Nath will play against state mate Irfan Ali while in girls’ single U-15, Rajkumari Replica Handique (Assam) will play against Tania Bordoloi of the same state.
Munchang Fa Gogoi (Assam) will meet Bornil Akash Changmai (Assam) in boys’ single U-9 final.
In boys’ double (U-17), Madhurjya Nath/ Pragyan Borkakoty of Assam will play Ahanthem Mangal/Chairom Vikash Singh of Manipur.
The closing function of the tournament will be held at the MLA Cottage badminton stadium, where the last final matches will be played on Monday, at 3 pm.
Home Minister Kumar Waii and Sports 7 Youth Affairs Parliamentary Secretary Nyamar Karbak will attend the closing function and distribute prizes to the winners.
