APPDSSU demands cancellation of ‘illegally’ obtained LPCs

SEPPA, May 2: The All Pakke-Kessang Pijeriang Dissing-Passo Seijosa Students’ Union (APPDSSU) has demanded immediate cancellation of the land possession certificates (LPCs), which were issued to Maya Dolo and 217 others at Seijosa, alleging that the LPCs were “issued illegally”.
The APPDSSU stated that the LPCs were issued in a fraudulent manner during 2007 to 2019.
“As per the available documents and judgment of the Gauhati High Court (Vide writ Petition (Civil) No. 20 (A.P) 2009) it has been learnt that the granting of 218 LPCs in favour of Maya Dolo and others are illegal and obtained through fraudulent means,” the APPDSSU said in a memorandum to the East Kameng deputy commissioner.
The APPDSSU alleged that the then deputy commissioner of East Kameng had randomly issued LPCs to Maya Dolo and others during that period illegally, overseeing all the laid down norms.
A writ petition was filed in Gauhati High Court in 2009 by some locals. While admitting the petition, the court directed the respondent authority to cancel all the LPCs within 30 days, the memorandum said.
But no action has been taken till date to cancel the LPCs, the students union rued.
The APPDSSU demanded that the deputy commissioner abide by the court judgment and cancel all the LPCs without any further delay.
