ITANAGAR, May 7: A team of Upper Subansiri unit of Students’ Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) on Monday met Education Minister Honchun Ngandam and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate posting of subject teachers in various schools of Upper Subansiri district.
The student delegation apprised the minister of the problems faced by the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo due to shortage or non-posting of subject teachers, especially in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Hindi, which has resulted in poor academic results.
There were also shortages of teachers in various schools, including Government Higher Secondary School, Kodak, which is adversely affecting the academic studies of the students, the memorandum said.
In another memorandum, the SUMAA unit appealed to the education minister for allocation of fund for renovation and maintenance of various schools in the district.
According to the organisation, the schools buildings of government higher secondary schools of Dumponjo and Daporijo, Government Secondary School, Rijo, and the government middle schools of Bazaar, Town and Police Colony are lying in a dilapidated condition, which need immediate repairing.
The memorandum also appealed to the education minister for timely release of all government schemes meant for students, like midday meal, school stipend, uniform, sanitary napkins, textbooks, etc for the current academic session 2018-19 for smooth functioning of the school.
Meanwhile, the education minister has assured to look into the demands, including fund for maintenance of the schools, within this financial year (2018-19), informed the SUMAA unit.
