ITANAGAR, May 9: The Arunachal Pradesh Child Development Project Officers’ Welfare Association (APCDPOWA) will observe one-day pen down strike on 17 May in protest against non-release of sufficient fund.
During the strike, the CDPOs will attend office but would not perform official duty.
The association accused the government of turning a deaf ear towards its demands, despite repeated pleas.
The association alleged that the director of the department of Women and Child Development has not taken any concrete step to address the fund problem, which compelled the association to take the drastic step (of pen down strike).
While the salaries of the CDPOs and ministerial staff are pending, the honorariums of the anganwadi workers and helpers could not be paid for the last many months due to short release of fund, the association said.
“The fund (for salary and honorarium), which was released recently was woefully short of the projected requirements given by the CDPOs,” the association said. Further, the CDPOs have been running their offices with negligible fund under OE, OC, IEC, POL heads for the past 14 months. And the CDPOs are being subjected to undue stress and harassment because of all this,” it said.
The association said it would be forced to take up rigorous democratic means of protests if the authorities continue to disregard its demands and grievances.
