ATDSU allege candidates of acquiring fake ST certificates

ITANAGAR, May 11: Claiming that three candidates from Tawang district, who figure in the final list of the recently declared General Duty Medical Officer Examination results held by the state public service commission, are not Scheduled Tribes (ST), the All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) has called on the deputy commissioner of Tawang to crosscheck and cancel their ST certificates.
In a memorandum submitted to the deputy commissioner, the student body stated that three candidates from the district, who have been selected, have “procured fake ST certificates”.
Citing a government order of 9th August 2002, the ATDSU stated that strict instructions were given to the gaon burahs of Shyo village for proper verification of the genealogical tree prepared on the basis of the agreement made in 1936 before recommending any ST certificate from Shyo village.
The ATDSU, under its ‘Operation Clean Drive’is also verifying other non-authorised persons from Shyo village who have availed ST certificates, it stated.
Meanwhile while talking to this daily deputy commissioner Tawang S Phuntsok acknowledged that he had received the complaints letter of ATDSU.
