Goto Ete sworn-in as state information commissioner

ITANAGAR, May 16: Advocate Goto Ete was sworn-in as the Information Commissioner of the Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission at the Raj Bhavan here on 16 May, 2018.
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 15 (3) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 (No. 22 of 2005) and on the recommendation of the committee chaired by the state chief minister, Governor Dr BD Mishra appointed Ete and administered the oath of office to him.
Ete completed his LLB in first class from the Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1987 and joined the Bar Council of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura on 30 March, 1988.
He has served the state in various capacities as a government advocate in the District Penal of Lawyers in West Siang, East Siang and Upper Siang districts from 1988 to 2000.
With the advent of the Itanagar Bench of the Gauhati High Court at Naharlagun, Ete has served as the first ever additional senior government advocate for the state from 2000 to 2001.
He was also appointed to the Fast Track Courts (FTC) as presiding officer by the Gauhati High Court in June 2002.
Ete has also rendered services as additional district and sessions judge (FTC) for nearly 11 years from 2002 to 2013; as ex-officio special judge under prevention of Corruption Act from 2005 to 2013 and ex-officio member of MACT from 2008 to 2013 before being appointed as an information commissioner.
The governor’s wife, Neelam Misra, Parliamentary Secretary (Sports) Nyamar Karbak, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, State Chief Information Commissioner Dr Joram Begi, information commissioners Abraham K Techi and Matheim Linggi, invitees and special guests were present on the occasion.
