Governor’s intervention sought

ITANAGAR, Jun 14: The Arunachal Anti-Corruption Sena – Anna Samarthak (AACS-AS) in a memorandum to the governor on Wednesday sought his intervention to check “growing unchecked corrupt practices in the state.”
Claiming that legislators, technocrats and bureaucrats are openly involved in corrupt practices, the AACS-AS said, “It is high time the sources of income of legislators, technocrats and bureaucrats are surveyed, recorded, and they are made accountable for mis-governance.”
It alleged that for the past several years “many government departments are resorting to make contract appointments without holding any competitive exams and framing recruitment rules.
“This has been practiced mostly to appoint the kith and kin of bureaucrats,” it said, and demanded a complete ban on contract appointment and recruitment.
The association also demanded early disposal of all pending SIC and SIT cases, and establishment of a “prosecution directorate.”
Further alleging that there has been “misuse of funds under SADA and SIDF on unrealistic projects,” the AACS-AS requested the governor to “prevail upon the government for good governance in the state.”
Meanwhile, in a separate memorandum to the governor, the AACS-AS called for appointing a competent and qualified person as chairman-cum-managing director of the “Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh.”
