ITANAGAR, Jun 14: Strongly advocating making blood available in every district of Arunachal Pradesh, Governor BD Mishra on Thursday called for commissioning a blood bank in each district.
Speaking during a function held at Raj Bhavan to observe World Blood Donor Day, Mishra advised public representatives to contribute in commissioning blood banks in their respective constituencies through their local area development funds, in the larger interest of the people.
The governor hailed the efforts of Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization (AVBDO) chairman Ramesh Jeke in carrying out blood donation drives.
“Blood donation is a humane act, a selfless gesture, a need of the society, and the duty of every citizen,” he said.
Mishra also commended the RK Mission Hospital (RKMH), the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), the APSACS and the ABVDO, besides blood donors from the central police forces and civil society organizations.
He also felicitated the 138 Bn CRPF, Senki View, the 31 Bn ITBP, and the 12 Bn NDRF, Doimukh, for regularly participating in blood donation camps.
RKMH secretary Swami Vishweshananda, Health Services Director Dr M Lego, SBTC Deputy Director Dr Nabam Budh, APSACS Project director Dr Riken Rina, and Jeke also spoke.
Voluntary blood donors-cum-motivators Moley Mangfi (RGU), Aping Yakar (Itanagar), Bangram Tungi (East Kameng district), Toko Teji (Papum Pare), Karge Riba (West Siang), Habung Gyati (Forest Colony, Naharlagun), Hage Gyayo (Lower Subansiri), Minam Lego (East Siang), and Tah Ama (Papum Pare) were also present on the occasion, during which 84 persons donated blood.
