KHONSA, Jun 29: A project monitoring team from the North Eastern Council (NEC) inspected various horticultural projects being implemented to replace the traditional jhum cultivation in Tirap district.
The team of officials comprising JDH Tage Tatung, DDH Ajom Mengu and DHO Tobom Bam from Itanagar along with Tirap DHO Henrik Basar and departmental staff inspected various projects sites in Dadam and Lazu circles on 28 and 29 June.
During the inspection, they also interacted with the beneficiaries and held discussions regarding horticulture-based farming activities replacing traditional shifting cultivation.
They advised the beneficiaries to take up horticulture sincerely. The total number of beneficiaries covered in the year 2017-18 was nine each from Dadam and Lazu circle.
The beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction over implementation of the project under horticulture and lauded the Tirap DHO for his performance in project implementation in the district.
The team will next visit Longding district. (DIPRO)
