ITANAGAR, Jul 4: Governor Dr BD Mishra has extended his greetings to the citizens of the state on the occasion of Dree, the agricultural festival of the Apatani tribe.
In his message, the governor said that Dree festival is the traditional identity of the Apatani tribe, which they have proudly and conscientiously preserved since time immemorial. Celebration of the indigenous festivals helps the preservation, development and transition of the ancestral values and ethnic identity to future generations, he said.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu also extended greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly the Apatani community on the joyous occasion of Dree festival. In his message, Pema conveyed his deep sense of appreciation to the community for safeguarding and promoting the rich Apatani culture and tradition and passing it to the younger generation. He believed that the Dree would bring with it communal harmony, peace, serenity and prosperity in the state. (PROs)
