ITANAGAR, Jul 5: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal has asked the labour & employment department to actively participate in the process of achieving 100 per cent coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana (PMJJBY), and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) in the state.
Chairing a meeting here on Thursday, Gopal asked the labour & employment commissioner to direct all the district officers to get involved in the implementation of the three schemes.
The union finance ministry is directly monitoring the status of the schemes, especially on financial inclusion under the three schemes, the CS said, and directed the department to ensure proper utilization of state government resources in the districts.
“More could be done if the government machineries are properly utilized. It is also the responsibility of the labour and employment officers posted in the districts to ensure that the labourers registered with the labour welfare board open their bank accounts and get their Aadhaar enrolled,” he said.
Gopal also directed the labour commissioner to present monthly reports on the progress of the implementation of the three schemes in the districts. He asked banks to facilitate the villagers and illiterate public in opening of bank accounts.
As per the latest report, the status of implementation of PMJDY in the state is @ 100%, that of PMSBY is @ 93.68%, and of PMJJBY is @ 80.05 %.
Among others, the finance commissioner, the labour commissioner, the finance secretary, the labour welfare board chairman, and the GMs of the NABARD and the SBI attended the meeting.
The CS called for including the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, the Apex Bank, and the Cooperative Bank in the next review meeting. (PRO)
