KHONSA, Jul 10: The police seized ganja weighing about 1 kg from a house near the PWD office here during a raid on Tuesday.
Based on information about selling of ganja in Khonsa town, a joint team of officials from the district administration and the police conducted the raid in the house of one M Bahadur Chetry, during which the drugs were seized.
The police have launched further investigation after registering a case against Chetry under the NDPS Act.
In Lower Dibang Valley HQ Roing also, police caught five persons, including a juvenile, with drugs during a sudden raid conducted in the house of one Hasa Linggi in Shanti Market.
Suspected heroine weighing around 18 grams and wrapped in seven plastic packets, one half-burnt and rolled Rs 10 Indian currenty note, pink powder-studded coins of Rs 10 and Re 1, and lighters were seized from their possession.
The articles were seized in the presence of Town Magistrate Olak Apang and Deputy SP (HQ) Opir Paron.
Another co-accused and peddler Ratan Mega alias Binu, who is said to have brought the drugs from Tezu, has also been arrested.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and further investigation launched. (DIPROs)
