ITANAGAR, Jul 25: Chandranagar and Banderdewa won their respective matches in the seven-a-side soccer tournament on Wednesday and joined the football clubs Young Generation, Khyoda Brothers, Hornet, Gwalior and Champion in the quarterfinals.
Chandranagar overcame challenges to beat the NESA team 3-1. However, it was NESA, which took the lead early in the 6th minute through goal from Taba Sel.
Taksing Tai scored for Chandranagar in the added time of the first half to level the score 1-1.
Tadi Sonam netted two goals in the second half to send the NESA team packing.
Banderdewa had a relatively easy 3-0 win over Eastern FC in the second match of the day.
In the win, Tagru James scored two goals and Hamu Taro one.
Young Generation will play against Hornet FC in the first quarterfinal on Thursday at 1 pm before Khyoda Brothers taking on Gwalior at 2 pm.
“Know AIDS for no AIDS” is the theme of the tournament, organized by Ajing Arum Society in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society.
