RGPRS resents delay in Panchayat polls

ITANAGAR, Jul 25: While welcoming the directive of the High Court to the Arunachal Pradesh government to conduct the Panchayati Raj elections in the state, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS) state convenor Joram Jaya said by delaying the elections, the BJP-led state government has “paralyzed the development process” at grass-root level.
Narrating the role and functioning of the Panchayati institutions, the organization explained how the Congress party, under the leadership of then UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had taken responsibility to empower the PR bodies at grass-root level.
The Congress party has also been striving hard to empower the Panchayati Raj bodies to enable the mass participation of people in the development process and will continue its fight for restoration of the PR institutes and urban local bodies for the all round development of the state, the release said.
