RGU adopts measures to prevent entry of stray animals

RONO HILLS, Jul 25: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) in a meeting on Wednesday has taken few decisions and measures to get rid of the stray animal menace within the university campus.
The meeting, among others, has decided to construct a cattle bridge in the main entrance gate of the university to prevent entry of domestic animals and impose fine on the owners of the domestic animals that are found roaming free within the university campus.
The meeting further decided to shoot stray pigs, if found roaming within the university campus. However, the shooting of the pigs will be done in consultation with the local administration, the meeting resolved.
In case of stray mithuns, security guards will ‘carefully’ drive away the animals, the release said, while advising owners to keep their domestic animals in confinement.
Further, rearing of domestic animals in the canteen, hostels and adjacent to any public place has been prohibited.
Vice Chancellor Professor Tamo Mibang, Registrar Professor Tamo Riba and other officers and officials of the university attended the meeting.
