Ering to place four bills in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI, Aug 2: Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering will present four private member bills in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
The bills to be placed are the Representation of People (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Menstruation Benefits Bill, 2017; the Right to Public Service Bill, 2017; and the Press Council (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
The Representation of People (Amendment) Bill, 2017, makes it necessary for every MP to declare their assets and wealth within 90 days after cessation/end of their respective tenures. Already there are provisions for declaration of assets and liabilities by every elected candidate of either house of Parliament within a period of 90 days from the date on which he takes his seat. However, there are no such provisions for declaration of assets and liabilities after the expiry of the term of membership.
The Menstruation Benefits Bill, 2017, advocates paid menstrual leave for women working as an employee in any public or private organization. Further, the bill seeks to provide better facilities for women at the workplace during menstruation.
The Right to Public Service Bill, 2017, seeks time-bound delivery of government services and redress of people’s grievances. The bill is also meant to reduce corruption among government officials, and to increase transparency and public accountability.
The Press Council (Amendment) Bill, 2017, seeks to include the provision to constitute, promote and check the functioning of self-regulated information/media industries under the Press Council of India.
