ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The All Nyishi Students Union in a representation to the chief secretary on Thursdayrequested him to initiate urgent steps to ensure that CCTV cameras are installed and basic infrastructure provided at various check gates of the state.
The union also urged the authorities concerned to carry out strict ILP checking in the state and take necessary action against government employees and other individuals involved in issuing ILP illegally.
The union claimed that, despite its having submitted representations to the capital complex and Papum Pare deputy commissioners urging them to direct strict checking of ILP at the railway station and the check gates in Banderdewa, Kimin, Gumto and Hollongi, and to verify the authenticity of the documents submitted by ILP applicants, no such steps have been initiated by the respective DCs so far.
It also called for carrying out regular ILP checking drives in and around the capital complex, under the supervision of the magistrates concerned.
