Assn observes ‘Patriotic Day’

ITANAGAR, Aug 13: The Manipuri Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) on Monday observed its 175th Patriotic Day in a function at the conference hall of RK Mission Hospital (RKMH) here.
The 13th of August is considered a significant day for the Manipuris living in and outside the state of Manipur. It is on this day that two heroes of Manipur, Tikendrajit Singh and Thangal General, were hanged by the British for waging war against the British Empire.
The occasion was marked with offering floral tributes to the departed freedom fighters and recitation of patriotic poems.
A voluntary blood donation camp was also organized in collaboration with the NERIST’s NSS Cell, during which 20 units of blood were collected by the blood bank of RKMH.
The members of the MWSAP pledged to work for the development of the society and the country.
