Consensus reached for early completion of BCT road work

BOMDILA, Aug 23: A consensus has been reached on using a bye-pass road until the completion of the work on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road.
In a tripartite meeting of the West Kameng district administration, the BRO, and the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) here on Thursday, 14 BRTF Commander, Col BS Katal assured to visit the Pinjoli-Kimi-Khuppi-Zero Point road at the earliest, and to take up the matter with NEEPCO to use it as a bye-pass road till the completion of the BCT road.
Seeking cooperation from the people of Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng districts, Col BS Katal said the BRO was well aware of the issues concerning the BCT road.
“There will be visible improvement of the road by this financial year-ending,” he said.
Expressing concern over the frequent closure of the BCT road to vehicular movement, AAPPTF president Dobing Sonam called for a permanent solution to the problem. He advocated clearing and maintaining the NEEPCO’s Kimi-Khuppi road by the BRO as a bye-pass road for the commuters of the three districts.
“This would facilitate the BRO in its continued work on the BCT road without harassing the people,” he said.
“There has been a considerable fall in the tourist flow to the three districts, especially to Tawang; patients and attendants are having a harrowing time; and black-marketing is on the rise due to frequent closure of BCT road,” Sonam added.
Taking serious note of the absence of BRO officials from duty, AAPPTF members called for placing sufficient men and machineries at the work sites. They also expressed concern over the absence of mixture machines and lack of safety gears for the workers.
West Kameng Deputy Commissioner In-charge B Puroik suggested having a joint sitting of the district administration, the BRO, the NEEPCO and the AAPPTF to find out a workable solution to the vexed issue. (DIPRO)
