DAPORIJO, Sep 1: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf said e-attendance system would be introduced in the schools of the district to monitor teachers’ attendance.
Ashraf said he has received numerous complaints of absenteeism by teachers leading to students’ poor performance in various schools, particularly in remote and border areas.
“Biometric devices will be installed in all the government higher secondary and secondary schools in the district, through which attendance of teachers will be marked,” the DC said.
On 30 August the DC convened a meeting of administrative officers, BEOs, BRCs and CRCs to discuss the matter.
It was decided during the meeting that all the government schools in the district will conduct school tests every fortnight and complete the syllabi on time. Further, all the BEOs will conduct coordination meetings once in every two months, preferably in the first week, with all the principals, headmasters and teachers in-charge of government schools of their respective blocks.
The BEOs and BRCCs have been directed to inspect the schools of their blocks and submit detailed reports, including the status of infrastructure development and ongoing project, if any, to the deputy commissioner by the first week of October.
Discussions were also held to stop school dropout and re-enrollment.
