JONGAM, Sep 4: Around 200 patients were treated during a medical camp organized here by the Changlang battalion of the Assam Rifles (AR) on 4 September.
The patients were provided with medicines free of cost and offered medical consultations, informed the defence wing of the PIB.
A general health awareness programme was also conducted by the RMO and the staff of the battalion’s medical platoon.
The health camp benefited patients from Jongram and nearby villages. Jongram is one of the remote villages of Changlang district, located near the Indo-Myanmar border, with little or no availability of medical facilities.
The Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ) also conducted two free medical camps at Rongalibeel and Manpangliang villages in Lekang circle of Namsai district on 3 and 4 September, respectively. More than 300 patients were treated in both the camps, and medicines were provided to them free of cost.
Rongalibeel is a remote and flood-affected area of Lekang circle, comprising three villages.
The All Lekang Area Youth Association, Mahadevpur, collaborated with the VKAJ in conducting the medical camps.
