LUMDUNG, Sep 13: The academic session of the Sishu Vidyamandir under RK Mission School for the first batches of Classes 1 and 2 began on Tuesday here in East Kameng district.
The classes will function temporarily from the government middle school (GMS) here.
Attending the inaugural function, local MLA Mama Natung called the day “historic” and exhorted the stakeholders to shoulder the responsibility of improving the education sector in the area.
Recalling the deeds and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda in shaping the worldview towards education, Natung highlighted the impact of Vivekananda’s philosophy on education and how it affirmed that education plays a vital role in making a nation strong.
He requested the teaching fraternity and the school authority to impart quality education to the students.
Saying that the dream of setting up an RK Mission-run school has been realized due to the efforts of many individuals, the MLA extended gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his team for their constant support and cooperation, and to the villagers for reposing their faith in him.
Highlighting the activities and achievements of RK Mission, Swami Divyanandaji Maharaj spoke on the importance of education, expressed gratitude to every individual for their support in establishing the RK Mission School, and urged everyone to extend their cooperation for smooth operation of the school.
He informed that the foundation stone for the higher secondary level of RK Mission School would be laid very soon.
East Kameng DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat said the school is going to be a “game-changer in terms of bringing socioeconomic and cultural development to the area.”
He urged the faculty members to encourage and motivate and impart quality education to the students, and exhorted the students to accord top priority to studies, and to stay away from antisocial activities.
Former minister Hari Natung, Swami Sarvagananda, and SP Vikas Kumar also spoke on the life and achievements of Swami Vivekananda.
A statue of Swami Vivekananda was later unveiled and garlanded. Schoolbags were also distributed to the new students of the school.
HoDs, teaching fraternity and staffs of both Sishu Vidyamandir and GMS Lumdung, students and parents, public leaders, and others were present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
