MEBO, Sep 20: Guidelines related to proper nourishment of children, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding were imparted to anganwadi workers and helpers of the subdivision during the ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ programme organised here in East Siang district by the integrated child development services (ICDS) department on Thursday.
Pasighat ICDS Deputy Director Ponung Ering Ringu explained the key components of the mission to augment the convergence of the different ministries involved in implementing the mission for improved nutritional outcomes.
Ringu informed that the Poshan Abhiyan, which was launched on 8 March, targets reduction of stunting, under-nutrition, and anaemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls), and “reduction of low birth weight by 2%, 2%, 3% and 2% per annum, respectively.
“The target of the mission is to bring down stunting among children in the age group 0-6 years from 38.4% to 25% by 2022,” he added.
