Miji-Aka community gets festival ground in capital

JULLANG, Sep 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the festival ground of the Aka-Miji community here on Saturday.
Congratulating the community for acquiring a festival ground in the state capital for celebrating Chindang, Nyethrii-Down and Sarok festivals, and thanking the land donors, the CM expressed happiness that the ground would also be used by the Sartang and Bugun communities to celebrate their festivals and conduct other social activities.
He offered to extend all possible help for building of infrastructure on the ground.
Exhorting the community to preserve its culture and tradition, the chief minister
said, “Arunachal is very popular in terms of tourism for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. Tourists come to Arunachal looking for authentic local lifestyles, customs and culture, and not for superficial lifestyle.”
He informed that the tourists’ inflow in the state per year has risen from three lakhs to nine lakhs in the last six years.
Pema said his government is taking every measure to preserve the indigenous arts, crafts, dialects and dresses through the newly-created department of indigenous affairs.
He also said Arunachal is poised for “astounding reforms in the coming years” to bring equity, fairness and efficiency in the system, “with think-tanks working round the clock behind the curtains.
“Reforms so far, such as administrative decentralization, creation of the Staff Selection Board, recruitment of Group A and B government employees through an independent commission, empowering of deputy commissioners, conducting jan sunwai sammelans, and special focus on the education, health and agriculture sectors through independent resource allocation at the district level is sure to bring good days ahead,” the CM said.
Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, Home Minister Kumar Waii, local MLA Techi Kaso, advisor to CM Japu Deru, Thrizino MLA Kumsi Sidisow, and former executive engineer Tarh Hari also spoke.
Among others, Seppa MLA Mama Natung and Raga MLA Tamar Murtem were also present on the occasion. (CMO)
