MLA urges parents to be involved children’s edn

KAMBA, Sep 23: MLA Nyamar Karbak advised parents and guardians to examine their children’s academic performance regularly, stating that students perform better when parents get involved in their education.
“The visible presence of parents and guardians around the school would also make the institution safe and more orderly,” Karbak said recently during a meeting of the Mother-Teacher Association (MTA) and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the government higher secondary school here in West Siang district.
Asserting that students from government schools had a better success ratio in the APPSC examinations than those from private institutions, Karbak called for concentrated effort by all to make the GHSS a better institution for teaching and learning.
He urged the mothers to look into all the needs (including sanitary necessities) of their girl children.
GHSS Principal Gekir Karga, MTA chairman Yormi Kato, PTA chairman Mokar Nomuk, ADC (in-charge) Tamas Mugli, ex-PRI Damli Niri, and advocate Geli Noshi also spoke.
The MTA and the PTA were formed recently to involve parental participation in schools.
The meeting was followed by the inauguration of a smart classroom by the MLA, after which he announced to sanction fund to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs to upgrade the classrooms.
A memorandum demanding construction of school boundary wall, posting of a postgraduate teacher, and repair and maintenance of the school building, staff quarters, etc, was also submitted to the MLA by the school management committee, which he assured to look into.
