CHONGKHAM, Sep 24: The Arunachal Pali Vidyapith Society (APVS) organised a three-day workshop on Indian classical music (vocal) for persons with disabilities (PwD).
The workshop, which was the first of its kind in Namsai district, concluded on Monday at the APVS’ academic block here. It was sponsored by the Allahabad (UP)-based North Central Zone Cultural Centre, under the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana of the union culture ministry.
Attending the inaugural event on 22 September, Namsai ADC Bijoy Talukdar commended the APVS for conducting the event and said he hoped it would immensely benefit the differently-abled participants.
Talukdar donated two refrigerators on behalf of the district administration to facilitate storing critical medicines in the implementation of the targeted intervention projects run by the APVS for prevention of HIV/AIDS.
About 120 persons, including children, participated in the workshop. The resource persons were Shantanu Biswas from Guwahati, who is an examiner designate for music at the Lucknow University, and Basanta Handique.
The workshop featured sessions on Indian classical music, sargam, taal, aroh abroh, pakar, patriotic songs, and swar mallika.
Certificates were distributed to the participants during the valedictory function.
