AALO, Sep 26: Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju launched a health mela, organised jointly by the district administration and district health society at the Gumin Kiin, here on Wednesday.
Thousands of patients from different parts of the district registered their names for various ailments in the health mela, which is a Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI scheme funded under the National Rural Health Mission.
It is an annual event, which will be held in all MP constituencies to ameliorate the health condition of the people with free medicines and screening of ailments.
In his inaugural address, Rijiju said that the Government of India has embarked upon the biggest health insurance scheme in the world to provide Rs 5 lakhs annually to each patient involving 50 crore people in India.
He disclosed that he had managed many sophisticated medical equipment, ambulances, mortuary vans, medicines, etc from various corporate, voluntary organisations, MPLADs for various government and semi-government operated hospitals of the state to improve the health service system.
The MoS was accompanied by Minister Tax & Excise, etc Jarkar Gamlin, Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra and MLA 27th Liromoba, Nyamar Karbak. (DIPRO)
