ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Cleanliness drives were held in various parts of the state under the ‘Swacchata Hi Seva’ programme.
In Hollongi in Papum Pare district, a 36-member team of the 12 Bn NDRF’s F company under the command of Inspector H Thang Joseph carried out a cleanliness drive at the police check post on Sunday, with assistance from police personnel and civilians.
The NDRF team advised the people to collect waste and dispose of it properly, besides placing dustbins at appropriate areas to avoid littering.
The Brahmakumari members of Namsai also reached the 17th day of their drive to clean up Namsai town. Around 30 members, including young children and the elderly, participated in cleaning the area near the Namghar there.
On 29 September, the F/149 Bn CRPF organised a cleanliness drive at the government higher secondary school in Changlang with assistance from the staff and students of the school.
CRPF Second-in-Command PK Sahoo appealed to all to become a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign.
In Daporijo, the PHE&WS division organised a cleanliness drive under ‘Swachchata Hi Seva’ in the premises of Mell Botom tourist lodge on 29 September.
The engineers and staff of the department, led by EE Lod Tanyo, cleaned up the lodge’s premises and disposed of the garbage there. The overgrown weeds interfering with the growth of the ornamental trees (which were planted during 2015 and 2017) were also cleared, informed the lodge’s managing director Dosh Dasi.
The UD&H department’s Daporijo division provided the vehicles and manpower for the drive. District Art & Culture Officer Tania Siga also participated.
