KAMKI, Oct 5: A tree plantation-cum-cleanliness drive was organized at Donyi Polo Government College here in West Siang district on Tuesday.
Besides cleaning the campus, the students and staff of the college along with local residents planted around 200 saplings of gulmohar trees made available by the forest department.
Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak, who also participated, advised the people to maintain cleanliness of their surroundings, and urged them to use sanitary latrines in order to achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat.
The MLA recalled the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, and called upon the public, the youths, and the students in to follow his principles.
Directing the local administration and the authorities concerned to ensure that the college and the schools of the area are alcohol- and tobacco-free, Karbak asked them to ensure that no tobacco product or alcohol is sold within 100 metres of the college and school premises.
