AALO, Oct 13: The 39th foundation day of the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) was celebrated at Darak circle under West Siang district, here on 10 October.
Speaking on the occasion, former APWWS West Siang unit president, Yayum Boje Gamkak said, “Women have to root out prevailing customary laws that shelter social evils, like polygamy, domestic violence, right to property, etc.”
Darak medical officer Dr Soyum Potom also appealed to the APWWS to make cautious approach towards social change, gender equity and deep rooted social vices by creating public opinion. The doctor also gave useful health tips to the gathering.
Mothers’ Vision chairperson, Jumde Yomgam Gamlin lauded the effort put in by the administration and public for complete ban on tobacco and its products at Darak town.
Darak CO Tamish Mugli and APWWS Darak unit president Nyari Tali Poyom also spoke on the occasion. (DIPRO)
