RONO HILLS, Oct 13: A poetry collection titled ‘Jab Adivasi Gata Hai’, penned by Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) Hindi Department Assistant Professor, Dr Jamuna Bini Tadar was released by RGU Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha at the AITS conference hall of the university here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, noted writer and Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) president, Y D Thongchi said, “Her (Bini’s) poetry is an endeavour to revive lost identity by reworking her cultural legacy and making it relevant for new generation”.
Dean of Faculty of Language of the RGU, Prof Harish Kumar Sharma said that Bini’s poems reflect her deep concern for the changing social scenario, which appears to threaten the roots linking her with tradition.
Bini is a very keen observer of nature and tribal way of life, said RGU Assistant Professor (Hindi Deptt), Dr Abhishek Kumar Yadav.
He added that Bini’s poetry can be divided into mainly two categories – first category of poems are those which speak about the beauty of nature, and her second category of poems deals with understanding of tribal roots and culture which are facing tremendous challenges from globalization.
AITS Assistant Professor, Lisa Lomdak said, “Jamuna, in her satirical tone, holds up to ridicule the modern society without being cynical”.
A host of dignitaries, including RGU faculties, students, APLS members and well-wishers of the poet attended the function.
