BRO labourers to observe hunger strike at Jantar Mantar

ITANAGAR, Oct 16: The BRO Laborers’ Union, North East Region will observe 48-hr hunger strike and hold peaceful dharna at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from 22 to 24 November in protest against non-fulfilment of its 21-point charter of demand.
Some of the union’s demands are implementation of labour laws, Maternity Leave Act, Central Minimum Wages Act, better living conditions, grant of 15 days medical leave, 10 days casual leave, right to celebrate International Labour Day, grant of arrears as per Bonus (amendment) Act, 2015, 50 pc regularisation policy for the workers in the vacant posts, construction of permanent workers camp and transit camp, adequate medical facilities, complete ban on execution of work through tender system except specialised job, roof top vehicles to the CPLs to drop and lift workers at work site.
