AALO, Oct 26: West Siang DDSE Eto Ete inspected the government schools in Mechukha and Monigong from 19-24 October to take stock of the teachers’ performance and implementation of the midday meal scheme.
Accompanied by the BEOs of Aalo West, Mechukha and Monigong-Pidi, Ete inspected 20 schools, and interacted with the villagers, teachers, non-teaching staffs, and students.
The villagers placed various complaints before the DDSE and urged the authorities to exempt teachers from performing the duties of BLOs, saying it hampered the teaching-learning process.
They cited the instance of a teacher of GLPS Chengo, who has been appointed as the BLO of Pangri, which is a two-day foot march away from his place of posting. They also informed that of the five teachers of the GUPS Karle, four have been appointed as BLOs, due to which the school remains closed most of the time as the teachers are engaged in election-related activities.
The DDSE also observed the pathetic condition of most of the schools, besides the dilapidated hostels and teachers’ quarters. He also noted the absence of boundary walls around the school campuses. (DIPRO)
