DIYUN, Nov 3: Changlang-based Chakma Rights and Development Organization said the Chakma and Hajong refugees in the state are not entitled to any refugee benefits, and that no such benefits have ever been given to them.
In a press release, the organisation on Saturday urged the state government to implement the Supreme Court verdict and treat Chakmas and Hajongs without any discrimination.
In the matter of the refugees being enrolled in the state’s electoral rolls, the organisation said the autonomous functioning of the Election Commission of India should be upheld.
